We all (as designers) have worked with a client who made us wish we didn’t venture in the design field. I would be lying if I said it didn’t happen to me at least three times each month. Editing, color palette changes, rewording and the list goes on.
Enough of the wishful thinking and read on, below I try to explain some simple guidelines to make your freelance work a success.
Listen
The most important skill that is often taken for granted in every profession is learning how to listen. The first thing you need to do is have a sit down with the client (if you can) whether over the phone or in person so you can better understand the client’s needs.
